Scroogie?) in Scozia, la sua famiglia in disgrazia da tempo, la "genesi" della Numero 1 guadagnata facendo il lustrascarpe (in realtà una manovra del padre per rafforzare il carattere del figlio), e tantissimi accenni alla genealogia dei de' Paperoni, con tanto di forte elemento paranormale (il fantasma di Quaquarone che protegge il tesoro).
L'arte rigorosa e meticolosa non ha mai particolari guizzi creativi, ma è accurata e dettagliata, quasi scolpita a mo' di incarnazione dell'atmosfera di un'epoca antica che diventa eterna (quella di Carl Barks?).
Belle architetture, bei personaggi di contorno, bell'afflato epico che risuona in ogni tavola e in ogni allusione a ciò che sarà narrato in seguito.
Un meditato "preludio" di forza e spessore al Paperone che sarà, un racconto di formazione, un'avventura di "fine dell'infanzia" abbastanza godibile anche per i lettori più piccoli (almeno negli intenti grafici) ma di certo rivolta agli adulti e cultori di Barks.
Curiosa la citazione/gestione de "Il mastino dei Baskerville" (Whiskerville) che rappresenta la componente soprannaturale fasulla in opposizione a quella reale (e comunque è sempre in omaggio a Barks). Tra gli altri elementi di Barks che Rosa riannoda (l'orologio da tasca in argento), spicca la sistemazione della faccenda delle armature degli antenati di Paperone viste ne "il segreto del vecchio castello", tutte dotate di lunghe gambe inadatte ai paperi. |

Un’avventura magari non molto elaborata a livello di soggetto, ma di lettura estremamente gradevole: vedere all’opera il piccolo Paperone nella Scozia di fine ‘800 e vedere come ha guadagnato la “Numero uno” è davvero interessante, mentre i disegni sono eccellenti, sia in fase ritrattistica sia in fase scenografica (memorabili alcune vedute del castello immerso nelle nebbie della brughiera). |
