In un certo senso rappresenta l'estrema sintesi della filosofia donrosiana (e anche sotto questo aspetto si configura come diretta evoluzione della storia di Barks di cui è un seguito): il discorso che Paperone fa sul collezionismo di soldi è lo stesso che potrebbero fare sia l'autore che il lettore appassionato sul collezionismo di fumetti. E forse è un discorso applicabile in contesti più universali, ma preferiamo fermarci qui. Ciò che conta è che siamo noi a dare un valore alle cose. E il valore che attribuisco a questa storia è molto elevato, per come ha saputo emozionarmi da bambino (Paperino che rischia la vita travolto dal denaro di Paperone mi ha segnato) e per come, oggi, è in grado di farmi riflettere e ammirare, una volta di più, la sagacia e l'intelligenza di un autore capace di guardare all'ovvio da punti di vista laterali e inediti. | | near | | | | Monday, Mar 21, 2016, 10:52:35 PM | To be clear: this is a great story, nonsense argument the opposite. But also if this is a masterpiece, i feel that something is wrong. Uncle Scrooge that keeps coins only because they have a "worth of memory". mumble... it could be, but it sounds like "forced". However, we know well that the Rosa's Uncle Scrooge is a sentimental character (and thankfully, otherwise we wouldn't have read certain stories!), but i think this kind of extreme sentimentalism could denaturalize the essence of the rich duck. Also the end is some sort of forced sentimentalism. Sure, nice moral, but maybe the attitude of Donald and the nephews is uselessly grateful toward the coin, loaded with a meaning frankly excessive. The terrible drawings have 'Don Rosa' written all over them. He digs deep to expose Donalds greed but then the story collapses and it does not really ends, it just fades out.
