Monkey_Feyerabend    Sunday, Aug 23, 2015, 06:32:23 PM  This is one of my favorite stories by Barks from the 40's. Beautifully irrational and beautifully hilarious. A "ten-page style" story extending to a double length, and it works so well! The first part has not a great rhythm, but anyway it has some strikingly funny panels (the ducks finding themselves with a real bombardier, the jealous Donald joke, the ducks actually praying on the plane...). The second part, starting more or less from the moment when Donald is declared a national menace, is an example of pure comic genius. The trial is damn funny. Putting that panel with the depressed Donald behind bars ("nobody loves me anymore"), in the middle of such a comic run, is like a comedian punch in the face to the reader: it almost killed me!
Appie Aap    Saturday, Oct 3, 2015, 09:31:16 AM  Not really worth the trouble. The basic adventure is good, but pages 14 through 25 are gags with mediocre success only to extend the story.

tonkduck    Saturday, Feb 15, 2020, 10:44:49 AM  Not a big fan of this one. Starts pretty well and Volcano Valley is nicely designed, but half of the story is just one single joke repeated and gets quite tiresome. Maybe things have changed since then, but all that "look, it's funny because they are lazy and like siesta"... does nothing for me,i don't know.
Step88    Friday, Dec 23, 2022, 07:29:13 AM  D104. Volcano Valley. Australian Edition.
Odd story. Nice and clever touches throughout though. The value of 300,000 Volcanovian Pezozies in $U.S. The summary of Donald’s cars worth. The discovery of the two-hour siesta and its health benefits. The courtroom scenes.
