Per fortuna che questo personaggio - come Macchia Nera - fu riesumato in Italia nel 1959 dal magnifico disegnatore Giulio Chierchini. | | tcp | | | | Friday, Apr 3, 2015, 05:00:20 PM | Questa storia ha molti titoli, ma nessuno bello quanto "Il misterioso 'S' flagello dei mari". Orango di per sé è molto meno affascinante di Tubi, ma è un cattivo vero, di quelli che vivaddìo non diventeranno bambocci (anche se Martina, involontariamente per carità, ci ha provato). Oggi che anche Macchia Nera è stato reso più mansueto da molti autori Orango resta l'unico villain ancora "vergine". Spero che lo rimanga. Sempre. You can perceive Gottfredson slowly becoming a sophisticated storyteller in this period (late 1935). He was having fun for sure. In the last scene Mickey says that all the fun he had was enough as a reward, and that maybe even Goomy had some fun. I like to see here a reference to the fun of the (non enough rewarded) artist himself.
The story is not a 10/10: for instance, I think that the "island with ten thousands prisoners" could have been a good setting for plenty of clever gags. On the contrary Gottfredson does not give a damn, and only focus on the "Mickey & Goomy escape" plot. Too bad! By the way [SPOILER] can you really open a damn submarine with a cutting torch???? [/SPOILER]. Well, who cares.
